Team building

This afternoon we had another team building activity.  The children were given 20 cups and asked to build the highest tower that they could which just 5 minutes of planning and 10 minutes to build.  Here's the kids first attempt.......

After a discussion we tried again....

And these results were.......

So the 2nd winner up was.....

And the winning group was.....

We had a lot of fun and we learned it is harder than it looks/sounds!!!!!!!

2nd day fun!

Today we each got to design a puzzle piece!  We then had the challenge of putting the pieces together and making a puzzle.  As we worked as a "team" we discussed how we all fit in 3rd grade but yet how we are all different and bring unique qualities to our class!  The class did great working together to put the pieces back together, here's how it turned out.

First day!!

Wow, what a great start to the school year.  We had a great first day....got to do some team building and some rules and procedures.  During our team building today the children had to practice their speaking and listening skills while doing the activity that involved a washer, string, and a ball.  They had to work together to carry the ball on the washer across the playground and drop it in a bucket while talking and listening to their teammates.  We had so much fun!  Here's some pictures.....

I am very excited to have your child in my class this year.  It was so nice to get to meet all of you on Meet the Teacher Night!

Just a few reminders:

School starts at 7:35 and the tardy bell rings at 7:45.  If your child gets to school between 7:15 and 7:35 they will go into the gym for Reading Cafe.  

If you have not attended a 1:1 iPad meeting, please make plans to attend one this week, where we can get our iPads and start sending them home.  Here are the dates for this week:

Monday 8/26 at 8:30 am

Tuesday 8/27 at 8:15 am & 6:00 pm

Wednesday 8/28 at 4:00 pm

Thursday 8/29 at 10:00 am & 1:00 pm

All meetings will be held in the library.

I was so surprised to receive this wonderful gift this afternoon from my class.

What a great creative gift!  Thank you to all of the families that made this gift possible, I really appreciate it and can't wait to use the gift cards :). 

I have truly enjoyed this class, we have had a lot of good times and laughs!  I hope all of you have a safe and wonderful summer.  And of course I look forward to seeing all of you at.....

Lucky!

We have had a very special experience with getting to hatch an egg that Colin found at the ball field.  He found it about 6 weeks ago and brought it into school and we put it in the incubator.  Well to our surprise... It hatched yesterday morning.  

We named it "Lucky" since we felt like it was very lucky to be found.  After the last day of school 

Lucky is going to get to live on a farm where he can well...live a happy duck life!

Pen pal video conference

This morning we got the pleasure to have a video conference with our pen pals from Syracuse, NY!  We were all very excited to get to see and meet them.  We had a great question/ answer session.  Here's a few pictures from it.....
