Open House

Please join us for Open House on March 7th!

Choir will be performing at 5:30pm in the cafeteria.  Then from 6-7pm come check out what your child has been learning this year.   After that at 7:00 pm there will be a PTA meeting in the library.

We had a blast at the Perot Museum!   We got to learn and explore in an innovative way.  Here are just a few of our captured moments!

Today we had a field trip to The Perot Museum in Dallas.  Here is a group picture that we took before we left.  I will post more pictures tomorrow!

Valentine's Party Fun

We had a challenge at our Valentine's Party and it was to get the candy lifesaver from our forehead into our mouth by only using our face muscles and tongue.  Let's just say it was a lot of fun and full of a lot of laughs! 
 

Peaceful Demonstration

My Social Studies classes participated in a peaceful demonstration.  The students had a to choose 1 side to support.  The choices were having the city build a new playground or swimming pool.  They then came up with a chant and a slogan for their banner.  Here's how they did......

Chant:  Build a park from your heart!
Slogan:  Build a park, remember you can go anytime!

Chant:  Playgrounds are safe!
Slogan:  Playgrounds are cool, playgrounds are fun!

 Chant: We want a pool, pools are cool!
Slogan:  Dive in and have some fun!

Chant:  Build us Equipment!
Slogan:  Happiness=Playground

Chant:  Playgrounds are awesome, they don't have possums!
Slogan:  Playgrounds rock, they will give you a shock!

 Chant:  We need a pool because it's cool!
Slogan:  We want a cool pool.

Chant:  Playgrounds are safe and fun!
Slogan:  Keep Parks and Recreation going!

Zip Line Design Challenge

Today the kids were given a challenge to create a ping pong ball carrier that would go down the zip line without falling out in 4 seconds or less.  The kids decided it would be fun to do boys vs. girls, so that is how our teams were created!

Both of the designs failed and the ping pong balls fell out, so we redesigned and here's design #2....

Both designs this time were successful and made it down the zip line in 2 seconds!  Way to go teams :)

100th Day of School!

Today marked a very special day - the 100th day of school.  My students were very excited and kept asking me all week what fun activities did I have planned.  They told me all about the ones  they did in Kindergarten and First Grade.  So I had to think about an activity that we could do in Third......and so I came up with this....... I first told them that I thought we should write as many words that we could in 100 seconds and then take those words and write them into 100 sentences!  Very quickly the kids told me that it was not a good idea!   :)   So instead we did a writing activity where we thought up things that we would want 100 of and here are some of what they came up with......

If I had 100 classes, I would be overwhelmed!
If I had 100 eyes, I would be a spy!
If I had 100 friends, I would be nice to them!
If I had 100 eyes, I would see everything!
If I had 100 heads, I would be smart.
If I had 100 dollars, I would give it to charity!
If I had 100 books, I would read and read and read!
