Busy, busy, busy!

Apps, apps, and more apps.....  We have been downloading the apps on our ipads that we will be using in class this year.  The children should be starting to bring home their ipads soon.  One of the new features that they will be using is the app Evernote.   Instead of writing down each day what they are learning they will be taking a picture of it and putting it in their Evernote folder titled "What I'm learning"for you to view at home.

We have also been very busy learning about our Daily 5 stations.  Starting this week the children will be doing rotations that involve writing, listening, technology, reading, and word work.  We are very excited to get this started!

Structural engineering

We have been discussing structural designs and today we had the challenge of redesigning our index card tower from Friday.  The children's goal was to create pillars that would be strong enough to hold textbooks.  They were given the supplies of:  6 index cards and masking tape.  After the pillars were constructed we tested them by seeing how many textbooks they could hold.  Here's some of the towers....
And the one that held the most (38 books)
