Poetry PBL

We have finished our PBL unit on poetry and the children did a great job!  Please ask them to see their media presentation that they made with all of their research and the poem that their group wrote.  After they wrote their poem they then had to turn it into a song which became a different challenge for them, since they had to find music that could go with it and then perform it.  I have enjoyed watching their presentations and can see that they had a lot of fun doing it and learned a lot along the way!

Volcano explosion

Today we decided to ret another way for our volcanoes to erupt.  We used the following ingredients:
We set it up outside.  First we opened the coke bottle and then we dropped in a whole role of mentos. As soon as we dropped them in the coke it started to erupt. :). Let's just say the kids loved it!  Here's a video showing it

World read aloud day

Today is World Read aloud day!  This morning we used Skype to connect with another 3rd grade class in Coppell.  The kids got to introduce themselves and then each classes teacher read a story.  Both of our stories ended up being about monkeys, we read Monkey with a Toolbelt!
Here's a picture of my class listening to the story being read by Mrs. Sork!
The kids had fun and we are thankful for the use of technology that allowed us to connect with another class!
